Wynantskill K of C Hoop Shoot Winners
Ready to Advance

Youths came out for the annual Hoop Shoot sponsored by the St. Jude the Apostle Knights of Columbus on January 19, with winners from different age categories eligible to move on to the next level of competition.

The competition was open to youths between the ages of nine and fourteen, with the competition held at St. Jude’s School gymnasium.

Two years ago, Wynantskill’s Emily Johnson won the international competition after capturing local, regional and state contests. Her road to the international title in 2007 began after winning the local contest in Wynantskill.

Emily was successful again on January 19 and moves on with other winners to district competition at the Lansingburgh Boys and Girls Club later this winter. Winners included:

Ten-year-old Boy’s – Nicholas Tymeson
Eleven-year-old Girl’s – Katie Mai
Eleven-year-old Boy’s – David Reo
Twelve-year-old Girl’s – Shannon Johnson
Twelve-year-old Boy’s – Joseph Germinerio
Thirteen-year-old Girl’s – Courtney Avery
Thirteen-year-old Boy’s – Ben Pinzer
Fourteen-year-old Girl’s – Emily Johnson
Fourteen-year-old Boy’s – Matthew LaBounty
